Boarding Revenue Calculator

Forecast annual and monthly boarding revenue from your run count, occupancy, nightly rate, and the holiday weeks that quietly make your year.

How to read it

Where boarding margin actually lives.

Boarding revenue is a capacity-and-rate-plan business. Two levers move it more than anything else: holiday-week surcharges and length-of-stay. A handful of peak weeks at a premium rate often out-earns a quiet month.

This model assumes near-full occupancy during peak weeks and your stated occupancy the rest of the year. Software that handles rate plans well, see Pet Business Management, is how you actually capture this on the books.

FAQ

Common questions.

What occupancy should I assume for boarding?

Outside of peak weeks, 70 to 85% is typical for an established facility. The calculator treats your peak weeks, holidays and summer, as near-full automatically, which is where a large share of annual revenue is earned.

How much do holiday surcharges actually matter?

A lot. A handful of peak weeks at a premium rate often out-earns a quiet month. Set peak weeks to 6 and a 25% surcharge, then watch how much of annual revenue those weeks represent.

Does this include daycare or grooming add-ons?

No, it models boarding nights only. Exit grooming, daycare days, and retail are real revenue but vary too much to assume, so add them on top of this baseline.
